Desleigh Forster Profile

profileHaving grown up around horses from a young age, it is no surprise that Desleigh Forster had early ambitions to be a successful thoroughbred trainer. Watching her father train endurance horses, she was always helping out and was a hands on assistant.

In her teens she quickly moved from Central West Queensland to Brisbane to pursue her career and try her hand in the city. She worked under Barry Baldwin as Foreman for 3 1/2 years learning a lot from one of Brisbane's most successful trainers.

A stint with the legendary Bart Cummings Stable in Brisbane was to follow before she found herself working for one Melbourne's leading trainers Peter Moody whilst he was in Brisbane. This was to last 4 Years and through this time Desleigh went to Melbourne to help set up Peter's Melbourne Stable, which has since become one of Victoria's Leading Stables.

Desleigh then decided to take up training in her own right and for the last 7 years she has trained numerous winners and some very smart horses. She has trained Adebisi, Listed winner of the Gold Edition Plate, Levante winner of 11 races and Mardi Gras winner of 9 races and over $350 000 in prizemoney just to name a few.

Desleigh trains from a calm and relaxed atmosphere at on course stables a Eagle Farm and it is this environment that helps to ensure the hapiness of the horses as paramount in acheiving success. Desleigh is a very hands on trainer who beleives communication with owners and an easy approachable friendly personality as all part of the fun and enjoyment of racing with Desleigh Forster Racing Stables.
